Randomness: Definition and Measurement
.

Randomness eludes definition because definition is order and randomness is lack of it. We come close by defining order, and then regarding randomness as lack thereof. Order is essentially an identification of a constant amidst a seemingly disordered dynamics. The mathematical construct capturing the abstraction of order is symmetry. Symmetry is modeled through the mathematical construct of groups.
